Week 73: Blessings on Blessings
Bom dia gente!!
This week was hands down one of my favorite weeks on the mission! I met so many amazing people, saw some beautiful places in our area, and even got to hear from another Apostle!
A few weeks ago on exchanges Sister Hinton and another Sister from another area street contacted a few guys who were sitting outside their houses. We had tried a couple times to get back in contact with them, but it never worked out. We were out street contacting again during the week and we ran into them! We went up and started teaching them about the plan of salvation. In the middle of our lesson, another guy pulled up in his truck and started participating in the lesson with us as well! We talked with them for a while and had an awesome discussion, but after a while we told them that we had to leave. They were pretty sad about it and told us to come by any afternoon to talk to them because they would always be there! One of the men José said that when the Sisteres first talked with him, he didn't believe that the Book of Mormon could be the word of God. But now, the Book of Mormon sits by his bed every night and he believes that it is true.
We were able to mark two baptismal dates this week! Our friend Patrícia who has been meeting with the missionaries for months got married on Saturday so she is going to get baptized this coming Saturday! Our friend Roseli also accepted a baptismal date for the following weekend and we finally got to meet her in person this week! Her story is a little bit of a miracle. We found her record in our area book, but her phone number didn't work or have a WhatsApp so we decided to send her an email with our information. A few days later we got a text from her new number and we started teaching her! The Lord is moving His work forward through the media!
This weekend we also had a Brazil wide devotional with Elder Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He spoke to all the missionaries serving here in the country and it was probably one of the most powerful devotionals I have ever participated in. He talked a lot about how our mission should be preparing us for the rest of our lives and that we should enjoy the time we have here serving the Lord. Elder Soares also shared two of his favorite scriptures with us: Mormon 9:20-21 and Moroni 7:23. He explained a lot about how these scriptures testify that God wants to answer our prayers, but that we need to make sure the things that we are praying for align with His will--it is all about developing faith!!
I love you all and I hope you have a wonderful week!
