Week 34: too many miracles
Olááá!!!!
As the subject suggests, this week has been so so full of miracles. But the biggest miracle of all has to be our friend Zoe has decided she is going to be baptized on February 27!! We've only taught her for about a week now, but she is so prepared. We taught her the Restoration on Tuesday and I was able to tell her about Joseph Smith's first vision. Right after I finished, she looked at me with a smile so big I could see it through her mask and she said, "wow, that is amazing." Our next lesson with her was on Saturday and she told us she had prayed to know if Joseph Smith was a prophet and if the Book of Mormon was true and she had this overwhelming sense of peace. She read the Book of Mormon every single day since we'd last met, and she absolutely loves it. We invited her to be baptized, and she said yes!! She is beyond excited, and we are too!!
Another miracle from the week, we were on exchanges and Sister Laymon told me she knew this guy at a Gyro place who speaks Portuguese. So I made her take me there and I met Jake. Jake went and lived in Brazil for a little while and his wife is from there. I was telling him about how difficult it is to find people in Oregon who speak Portuguese, and he gave me his phone number and told me he and his wife would love to help me practice! So on Thursday I get to talk with them more! Plus, it was my first time ever eating a gyro and wow those are amazing.
Some other highlights of the week included interviews with President Weekes, going on a walk with Sister Weekes where she made us play on the playground equipment outside our apartment, shrinking our laundry (not necessarily a highlight per say but it was a good time) doing yard work, getting to eat a meal in a tent at our Relief Society President's house, and finding out the Zone Leader's new person they are teaching is the same new person we are teaching, not sure how we are going to figure that one out so I will keep you all posted on that (big shout out to my cousin Jake though for getting us the referral).
I could go on and on about all the amazing things that have happened this week. I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to be a missionary right now. This is in no way what I imagined my mission would look like when I submitted my mission papers a year ago. However, I wouldn't trade these past 7 months for the world. I also know it is not me at all. This is God's work, and I'm thankful He's letting me be a small part of it.
Amo todos vocês!!!
