Week 51: Festas no Escritório!!

Oi gente, tudo bem??

I had the unique experience of being chased by dogs this week. We were walking home from the chapel one night and I heard some barking behind us. Honestly, I am pretty used to that at this point, but I had the feeling to look behind us. When I did I saw two giant dogs running towards us. It is times like these when I forget my companion doesn't speak English as I turned to her and said, "Those dogs are chasing us, we gotta run!" Luckily, actions speak louder than words and she caught on pretty quick.

Wednesday was Elder Lago's birthday, so we had a little party in the mission office! I promised him I would make him American food, so I decided on classic chocolate chip cookies. After buying all the ingredients, I realized that we didn't have any sort of measuring cups. So I just kind of guessed and went for it and the cookies actually turned out good! Also a few weeks ago, we decided we wanted to celebrate Christmas in the office. So we decorated the office, put up a little tree, and had a little Christmas party on Friday. We had a gift exchange and ate pastel, it was way fun. Little did I know I would actually get to celebrate Christmas in Brazil! Now you're probably thinking, "Sister Johnson, do you actually do any work while you are in the mission office?" I promise we do! This week we sent about 50 referrals from our ads and planned for a new ad campaign we are going to run. We stay in the office from 10am until 6 or 7 at night to try and get everything done we need to, and we still aren't getting it all done. I think President Saucedo is starting to realize how much work there is to do with the media, because on Friday he asked the APs to help us answer messages. Later that night around 8pm we got a text from one of the Elders saying, "Sisters, there are still more messages coming in, what do we do?" Welcome to the media life, Elders!

In terms of teaching, we had kind of a wild week. We invited one of our friends Rafael to be baptized, and he said no. It was my first time inviting someone to be baptized in Portuguese, so part of me thought maybe he misunderstood my question. Unfortunately, that was not the case. But on the positive side an inactive member reached out to us and said that he wanted to bring his wife who isn't a member to church! So they both came yesterday and she loved it, so we are going to start teaching her! And our friend Reginaldo came to church in a suit yesterday and it was so tender. This man is so ready to be baptized!

I love my mission! I love celebrating Christmas! I love you all! Have a fantastic week, let me know how you all are!

Love,
Sister Johnson
