Week 49: What are we eating?
Oi everyone!
First off, I hope everyone had a great Mothers Day! I am so grateful for my Mom and all the things she has done for me! And yes, it was Mothers Day here in Brazil as well. One of our investigators was very kind and wished us a Happy Mothers Day because he wasn't sure if we were Moms or not. I guess he just wanted to make sure he got all his bases covered.
I learned a very important lesson this week, which was if you like what you're eating but don't know what it is, don't ask. A kind member in our ward dropped off lunch for us and it was pretty good. Part of the lunch were these things that kind of looked like onion rings. They were pretty good and as I was eating them I made the mistake of asking Sister Queiroz what they were. She told me it was deep fried pig skin. I wasn't too hungry after that. Ignorance truly is bliss.
We also had a huge breakthrough with social media work! We had a devotional with all the social media specialists in the country and we talked about what things are and are not working in terms of ads and posting. At the end, a companionship of Sisters gave a presentation on how they run their ads, which was different from how we were running ours. Their mission has a ratio of 8:1 new people found to baptisms. THIS IS INSANE PEOPLE!! Sister Queiroz and I decided to run a new campaign of ads through the weekend and we were able to reach so many more people! We even had one guy message us and ask what he needed to do to get baptized. I know the Lord is hastening His work through social media!
In terms of teaching, we have a couple we are teaching and they are so cool! We had a lesson with them and they had so many great questions about the Book of Mormon and life after death. I used to think that when people had questions about the lesson, that meant I didn't do a good enough job teaching. But I have come to realize when people come to me with questions like the ones Reginaldo and Elizadra had, their questions show their desire to learn more! We are excited to keep teaching them!
I also discovered this week how much I love Sertanejo music. Lots of our Uber drivers and the stores play it and I am a big fan. My companion told me I only like it because I don't understand the lyrics, which is a high possibility. But until I understand it, I'm just going to keep enjoying it:)
Besides that, nothing too crazy! My mask and chaco tan lines are coming in nice, and I love being a missionary! Have a great week everyone!
