Week 44: Bem Vinda a Brasil!

Oiiii!!

Well it's official, I made it to Campinas! After waking up at 3:30 in the morning (big shout out to Sisters Reese, Staheli, and Lundquist) I flew from Eugene to Salt Lake, then to Atlanta, then on to São Paulo. I was hoping to get to see/travel with other missionaries, but sadly I had to make the trip on my own-it was soooo strange not having a companion! But! All is well! I got picked up at the airport and went to the mission home where I got to meet President and Sister Saucedo, my Mission President and his wife! They were so kind and let me take a nap at their house before the first session of the conference started. They also took me to see the Campinas Temple which is absolutely beautiful. I hope things will be normal enough sometime in the next eight months so I can actually go inside!

I'm currently living in the city of Campinas with Sisters Mesquita and Queiroz. And I am CONVINCED these two are the most kind and patient souls on the planet. I am experiencing what I assume illiteracy feels like and they will repeat everything they say ten times and say it super slow until I understand. They have also taught me a lot about the slang and also how to distinguish between saying coco and cocô (this is very important, check google translate if you need the difference). While I'm understanding more than I thought I would, my speaking leaves much to be desired haha. But no worries, I'm sure with practice and more than two days of living here everything will be good. But, if I understand correctly (which is a toss up) I think I'm going to be moving tomorrow to a different city right outside of Campinas. So I'll let you all know what happens next week!

Despite feeling completely helpless and probably only understanding 10% of what's going on at any time, I am so excited to get to be here in Brazil! I love it here and am so excited to get to learn more about the culture and language, and of course teach people more about Jesus Christ!

Love you all! Have the best week, and let me know if there is anything I can do for you! Also, yay for temples in Eugene, Grand Junction, and Belo Horizonte:)
