Week 15: Road Trippin'
Hello everyone!!
We got transfer news last night and I will be staying in the Klamath First Ward for at least the next three weeks which is awesome! I love Klamath and all the people I've gotten to meet here.
As I am sure most of you know the entire West Coast is on fire right now. It has been really smoky here the past few days which hasn't been great. Currently, Klamath has a red flag warning so there is a high chance of fires, but the ones closest to us have been pretty well contained. I do know at least 40 missionaries in our mission have been displaced/evacuated and at least one of their apartments did burn down which is sad. But despite all the smoke and fires it has been a good opportunity to look for service and spread the hope that comes because of Jesus Christ! He truly is our Savior and because of Him, we can find peace at any time in our lives.
In other news, Sister Massey and I took a little road trip to Macdoel, California! It is in our area and some Elders told us they found a service opportunity at a dog shelter down there and asked if we wanted to go. We agreed, thinking we were going to get to play with puppies. Man were we wrong. We showed up and all the dogs looked like they would bite my hand off if I tried to pet them. Then service turned out being pulling up carpet and foam from the floor of this church that was turned into a school that is now being converted to a dog shelter. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was still a great time.
This week we were on exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders who live next door to us, so it really wasn't too much of a change. But we decided to have a sleepover and movie night watching Johnny Lingo in the STLs apartment which was a great idea until Hermana Merrill left her popcorn in the microwave for 4 minutes and made the microwave smoke. And because Klamath is all smoke right now we couldn't open any windows to air it out. So it was quite the sleepover to say the least!
I hope you all have a wonderful week! Please pray for Oregon!!
Com todo de meu amor,
Sister Johnson
