Week 56: So it was my birthday??

Image
Olá, bom dia pessoal! So yes, on Friday it was my birthday--according to the missionaries in the office. They completely surprised me with a cake, balloons, and birthday hats with my face on them. President and Sister Saucedo came too and wished me a happy 20.5 birthday! One of the Elders kept asking me if I was surprised and I of course was, no one shows up to the mission office on a normal Friday thinking they're going to celebrate their 20th birthday four months after the fact. It was a day I'll never forget for sure!! In terms of teaching we had a pretty solid week! We were able to start teaching five new friends and contact a lot of new people! I was surprised at how much I am able to participate in lessons now. I've been here in Brazil for nearly three months now and I am actually understanding basically everything! The gift of tongues is so real! I mean this week I did have a little hiccup when one of our investigators asked us where the Book of Mosiah was in the Boo...

Week 55: I love to see the temple, and I went inside Wednesday!

Image
Oi galera!!  As the subject suggests, Wednesday was amazing because we got to go to the Campinas Temple!!! This was the second time that I got to go inside the temple, the first time was nearly a year ago in Medford!! Temples are truly very special places and I am very grateful that I got to spend my afternoon there. The peace I feel when I go can't be replicated anywhere else. The work is going well here in our area and with social media!! We made this new video that is going to get posted as an ad this week and I am really excited about it. Never did I think part of my mission would include getting excited about posting a video, but here we are! Elizandra and Reginaldo are doing amazing, we got a text from them this morning out of the blue telling us we are angels in their lives. Little do they know they are probably changing my life more than I am changing theirs. Funny story from the week. I was making cookies for my companion's birthday and she was in the bathroom. And th...

Week 54: Pinto no Lixo

Image
What's up everybodyyyyy! I hope you all had a solid week! This week was a lot calmer than the past few have been, probably because we are now only covering one ward and the social media pages and not three wards. We have two more Sisters living with us now and it's so fun. I taught them how to play Egyptian Rat Slap/Slap me Silly Shagadelico so that's been a pretty good time. Living with three Sisters who all don't speak english is helping me a lot with the language! They do all make fun of me for the amount of fruit that I eat as I buy so much every single pday, but such is life. I just tell them all the time that I am "mais feliz de um pinto no lixo" and they just crack up. It is a phrase that means you are just really happy, translated it means "I am happier than a chick in the trash." I love slang. Our prayers were answered this week as Elizandra was able to enter into the divorse process! This hopefully means she and Reginaldo can get married an...

Week 53: One Year Already!?!?!

Image
Bom diaaaaa gente! Well the title says it all, I am really an old missionary now. Thursday marked one year since I walked downstairs into my basement to start the MTC. And what a ride it has been these past twelve months. I have had the privilege to serve in the two best missions in the world, live with six amazing companions (not counting all the other sisters I lived with, but they deserve a shout out too!) make so many new friends, learn a new language (still a process), and grow closer to my Savior Jesus Christ. Never did I think my mission would change me as much as it has. My testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel and God's plan for me has been strengthened so much. We also just got transfer calls, and I am staying with Sister Queiroz another transfer and we are staying secretaries of media! But, now we are only covering one ward, so hopefully we won't have any more Sundays where we stay at the chapel from 8-8. This week we were able to visit one of our investig...
