Week 43: I have four companions?!

Image
Olá! So you know how I said last week I was moving to Eugene? So that didn't happen and I got to stay the last week in Corvallis! I moved into a different apartment with two other Sisters until I move to Brazil. But because of some other things I still am working with Sister Bennett and her new companion who live in my old apartment. So now, I am floating back and forth between two apartments and two companionships. It's a little crazy but such is life!  This week I also got to stay the night in Eugene while a Sister was waiting to pick up her trainee! So I got to try the legendary Vodoo donuts and have an overnight exchange in the Santa Clara 3rd ward! So this week I've had a total of six different comps so far. It's been wild! But life is good in Avery Park! We found someone new to teach and also have another potential so that's pretty awesome!  I'm so excited for Brazil/Easter/General Conference this weekend! It's going to be a wild time! Love you all, ne...

Week 42: goodbyes are the worst:/

Image
Hello everyone! Well this past week was the first week in 12 that I haven't had to spend in the car on a road trip! So that was pretty awesome. But with this coming week being my last full week in the US, I had to say goodbye to my friends in the YSA ward. Saying bye to Zoe was the hardest thing ever! So I'm looking forward to coming back to Oregon to visit everyone!  We held our classic YSA volleyball night and we had enough people to make three teams which was amazing! It was finals week at OSU and we still had that many people come. I'm pretty confident that I have gotten progressively worse over the weeks we've played volleyball but oh well!  We got transfer calls last night and I'm moving to Eugene for the next week or so until I leave! So yay for another tripan. This will be my fourth Zone in the OEM so it should be fun! Corvallis has been the best and I'm so sad to leave, especially as OSU is killing it in march madness right now! Thanks for all the love ...

Week 41: BRAZIL IS CALLING!!

Image
Olá!  Just got off the phone with my Mission President and he told me I'm headed to my original assignment in Brazil on April 2!!! I'm going to miss Oregon a ton, but I'm BEYOND excited to get to go! Send tips of how to learn Portuguese please! This week was pretty crazy! We did two rounds of exchanges and had a mission conference in Eugene, so Sister Bennett and I listened to a lot of BYU devotionals this week to say the least  I don't really have a whole lot of related things to tell you all about, so here's a list of some things that happened! -got stuck on the side of a mountain and had this nice guy come help us push our car -made pão de queijo with Jake and his wife and now they're interested in doing family history! -went to Eugene for a meeting and stopped by the mission office where I got to see my passport for the first time in a year -went on exchanges with two different Sisters! One here in Corvallis and one on the coast. While on the coast we had ...

Week 40: 9 months and a baptism?!?

Image
Olá!!!! Well this was a pretty awesome week! Zoe got baptized and it was the best day ever!! As part of the baptismal service, she bore her testimony and everyone there felt the spirit so powerfully. Zoe is amazing, I'm so lucky to have met her!  This week I also hit 9 months/halfway on my mission! I feel so old now, but at the same time like I just showed up in Oregon yesterday! Time flies when you're having fun I guess! But in honor of nine months, here are nine things I've learned, in no particular order:) 1. Patience and love are key in everything you do 2. It isn't normal to put Bisquick in the fridge  3. Pronouncing the letter ã in Portuguese is very important. You can get yourself into some trouble if you don't  4. The Book of Mormon is true, and Joseph Smith was a prophet. 5. God does answer our prayers 6. Crater Lake still remains the most beautiful place on Earth 7. You're kinda cool if you're a missionary not from Utah 8. I like Hawaiian food 9. B...

Week 39: Tender Mercies

Image
Olááá tudo bem?? Well as the subject suggests, this week was full of tender mercies!  1. Zoe is for real getting baptized!! We were finally able to get a hold of her after three weeks. She'd been having some rough stuff go on in her personal life, but told us during all of it she had turned to prayer and The Book of Mormon to find peace. We are so excited for Saturday!!! 2. I got a call from one of the Office Missionaries telling me my passport and visa arrived! While that doesn't mean I'm leaving immediately, I'm very hopeful I will go to Brazil in the next couple of weeks!  3. We had Zone Conference in Eugene and we were combined with the Santa Clara Zone where one of my past companions Sister Staheli is serving! So I got to see her for the first time in two months which was amazing!  4. We went to Coldstone as a group of Sisters and they made my ice cream too big so I got more ice cream for a cheaper price (always a W) 5. Zone Conference was amazing as always, e...
