Week 60: Feliz Junina!!!!

Image
Boa tarde galera!! I celebrated a new holiday this week- Junina! I would tell you more about it, but I am not entirely sure what it is or why it is celebrated. And I live with three Brazilians and they haven't been able to give me a straight answer either. But no complaints here, I am always down for a party! This week was one of those weeks where prayers were answered. After two and a half transfers of working the media completely by ourselves, President Saucedo asked two more companionships to help us with the pages and one companionship to help with creating the content. And to top it all off, we got three new laptops this week, so now we don't have to keep stealing the AP's computer to try and get our work done. On Friday we left the mission office at 6pm, and I can't remember the last time we left before 7 or 7:30, so serious blessings for sure. Sister Campos is also catching on really quick with the media stuff which is awesome. It is going to be another solid tra...

Week 59 : "It's easier to cry in English"

Image
Hey everyone!! Just as fast as the trio was made, it has now been broken up. Sister Quieroz finished her mission and is headed back home, and Sister Pocock got transferred to a new area. My new companion is Sister Campos, and I am so excited for this next transfer with her. She worked with Facebook Business a little bit before the mission, so that will for sure help as we are still covering the media!! This transfer will mark 3 transfers of me being in Valinhos, making it the longest area of my mission thus far!! The title of this weeks email comes from a sweet girl in our ward who is getting ready to leave on her mission! She speaks english, and was talking with Sister Pocock and I after Church! She told us it was easier for her to cry in English than in Portuguese, and we started cracking up. I do have to agree though, crying in English is much better hehe. We had an amazing lesson with our friend Nilza this week. We taught her about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and ...

Week 58: Triooooo with duas gringasss

Bom dia a todos!! This week was seriously one of the busiest weeks of my whole mission! We had two days in the office, two days of zone conference, which left two days to work in our area! I woke up with dark circles under my eyes haha. One of the days of Zone conference, there were a few newer Americans. President asked some of us Americans to translate the presentations and wow it was soooooo hard. I don't know how people translate because after about an hour I had the hugest headache. But zone conference was awesome. Sister Queiroz and I gave a training about contacting referrals because our mission had over 120 people that haven't been contacted. But after our presentation the number is down to 86 which is the lowest I have ever seen it! Still not perfect, but hey it's progress! In other news, I am in a trio! Sister Pocock arrived from the US yesterday and is staying with us. We now have five people living in our apartment, with a strict rule that if I speak English to ...

Week 57: Happy 4th and 13 Months!!

Image
Happy 4th of July!! While Brazil does not celebrate this holiday, I did find a little car shop that had red, white and blue pinwheels above it, so that was my patriotic moment of the day. Elizandra and Reginaldo continue to amaze me. Their car ran out of gas so they weren't sure how they were going to get to church. Our church meeting starts at 5pm, so they took a bus at 2:30 in the afternoon and then waited for the church to open. After the meeting, they were about ready to walk 2 hours back to their house, but a member was able to give them a ride. They really made me think about how much I value going to church. Is it something I take for granted? Probably. They are seriously some of the most amazing people I have ever met, and I am so excited for them to get baptized here soon! This week also marked 3 months since I moved to Brazil and 13 months as a missionary. The time is going by way to fast. I love being a missionary. I love Brazil. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am s...
