Week 13: Join the State of Jefferson

Image
Hello everyone!! This was a great week in Klamath Falls! Sister Massey and I got all moved into our new apartment. Luckily we only live 10 min away from where we used to live because I found out I am not the best at packing and definitely left a few things behind. We now live next door to two other Sisters which is pretty fun! For our daily exercise the four of us go to a track near our house to run. I have been running with one of the other Sisters and wow she's really pushing me. Turns out she runs XC and Track at BYU so everyone please pray for me to live through this transfer. I need all the speed I can get if I want to keep up with her "light jogging." In other news we got to go back to Church!!! Sister Massey and I cover part of the 1st ward and the Keno branch. We attended the Keno branch yesterday and the members were so excited to see us. I guess the Elders that had been over their branch before never came or communicated with them. So now they are so excited to ...

Week 12: Transfers

Image
Olá!!! Well this is it I am officially finished with my first transfer of my mission! We got calls last night and Sister Massey and I will be staying together for at least another three weeks! We are getting loads of new missionaries this week and then again in three weeks, so we only have a three week transfer this time around. I am staying in Klamath Falls but we are moving to a new apartment. We will now be ward sharing with another companionship of elders and sisters! It's going to be interesting for sure having six missionaries over one ward but I'm so excited to get to see more of Klamath Falls! One of the highlights of this week was I gave away my first copies of the Book of Mormon! I had put an add on Facebook Marketplace a few weeks ago offering them for free. I hadn't really gotten any responses until this week when someone reached out and asked for a couple of copies! I was so excited. Despite not being able to do traditional proselyting we can still have success...

Week 11: Two Broken Bikes and Filipino Food

Hi everyone!! I hope you had a great week! This was another great week in the OEM!! I can't believe this week is already the last week of my first transfer!  Six months ago I got my mission call and now here I am. Time really flies! Sister Massey and I have been on bikes most of the time now that we split our ward in half with the other Sisters! It's been really fun until one day we were coming up a hill and from behind me I hear, "Sister Johnson! Sister Johnson! My bike is broken!" Turns out when she was changing gears to go up the hill the gear shifter broke and got stuck on the highest gear. Not super ideal for our very hilly area. Our Zone Leaders had an extra bike that they let us borrow. They put it together out of the bike box and then sent us on our way! We were out on a bike ride and lo and behold within about three minutes the chain had fallen off and the left pedal fell off. So I am a little concerned with the Elders' ability to put together a bike. I t...

Week 10: Pear Farming!!

Image
Hello everyone!!! This week was another awesome week here in the OEM! We did so much service this week and I love it. I am so happy to be a missionary at a time where we can do so much service! The highlight of my service this week was definitely getting to go to the pear farm in Medford!! They needed volunteers so we all got to go up and pick some pears. I had a contest with one of the other Sisters to see who could find a smaller pear. Being the competitive person I am I checked every single tree for a small pear and eventually found the smallest pear in probably the whole orchard. There is also an In n Out in Medford so we stopped there on the way back to Klamath so it was a good day all around. I also found out this week that my quadpanionship is actually supposed to be two separate companionships! So now Sister Massey and I get to be the Sisters over Klamath Falls 4th ward North! This also means we are going to get to bike a lot more which will be fun. While it is ...

Week 9: Crater Lake!!

Image
Well it was another great week here in the OEM! I met one of our other investigators named Lori and she's awesome!! She raises dogs too so it's always fun to meet with her. We did tons of service this week which was also awesome. We volunteered at a blood drive, made masks, and did lots of weeding. It's so nice to be able to get out of our apartment and meet new people. We also finished up one of the videos we've been working on this week so stay tuned to see Sister Johnson doing some choreographed dancing... For pday today we got to go to Crater Lake which was absolutely amazing! All of the Sisters from our zone went so it was a party. A scripture from the Book of Mormon in Alma 30:44 which says "all things denote there is a God" and wow that is so true! We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful world that God made for us. I have also successfully convinced all of my companions Portuguese music is far superior to English so I have the honor of being the D...
